About our wines
Here at SkyHigh Mount Dandenong we have sought to showcase a variety of wines from the local region, both from well known and obscure Vineyards, and complimented these with other fine Australian wines. We have strived to bring together a list that presents you with a wide selection of varieties to suit all tastes. Below is a brief description of just some of our wines and the winemakers that supply us.
The Observer Sauvignon
A distinctly aromatic wine, displaying overt gooseberry, softer tropical fruit leading to passionfruit. Crisp natural acid combined with fresh, luscious fruit flavours provides a zesty wine. A long lingering palate. A premium style of Sauvignon Blanc.
The Observer Shiraz
Bright violet to ruby appearance, ripe fruit produces black cherry aromas. Balanced tannins and fresh fruit flavours have produced this excellent savoury shiraz.
Tellurian Heathcote Redline Shiraz 2014
This wine has a deep plum-red colour. The nose displays dark berry fruit, with dark cocoa and subtle oak complexity. The palate shows rich dark fruit melded with fine soft tannins.
Tellurian Toolleen blanc 2016
A bend of Marsanne, Fiano, Riesling and Viognier. It’s not a traditional or classic blend, but these four varieties compliment each other perfectly, with each contributing in there own individual way to flavour, texture, freshness and the personality of this unique wine.
Grown in the ancient, red, Cambrian soil or Heathcote, Toolleen Blanc is a vibrant expression of the region.
Tellurian Riesling 2016
Pale straw in colour, the 2015 Tellurian Riesling has a perfumed nose of lemon and lime with jasmine nuances. The palate shows intense citrus and granny smith apple flavours with some phenolic grip held together by a tight line of acid leading to a long finish.
The Willowglen label evokes nostalgic imagery of leisurely wining and dining in the great Australian outdoors. Designed for the on-premise trade, wines under this label are designed to compliment good food.
A very refreshing, easy drinking sparkling wine displaying fresh fruit flavours and a creamy palate with a crisp clean finish. The ideal wine for any occasion.
Peach and melon notes carried on a creamy texture, fresh acidity and some mineral grip on the finish.
Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
Upfront zesty palate of lime and lemon which rounds slightly for passion fruit and tropical notes on the lengthy finish.
Layers of plum, cherry and blackcurrant leaf, enhanced by the soft supple tannins and touches of chocolate oak.
Full flavoured with layers of juicy red fruits and dark plums, combined with spicy notes, balanced acidity and a touch of vanillin oak.
Frizzante style. Lively and fresh with freshly crushed grapes, a squeeze of lemon and ginger on the finish.
La Bossa Merlot
Lifted savoury, spice and cherry fruit with background of vanilla bean oak, the palate is rich and generous with cherry fruit and subtle oak, finishing with balanced tannins and lingering flavours.
La Bossa Pinot Grigio
Fragrant green grassy aromas, light, refreshing, soft and round.
Ripe plum with layers of juicy red fruits supported by spice and vanillin oak in unity with soft yet structural tannins.
De Bortoli Estate Crown Cabernet Sauvignon
Sweet dark and red fruits, layered tannins, savoury, gently concentrated, lengthy leafy flavours, balanced acidity.
Vinoque Pinot Noir
Gently aromatic, good pinosity, structured with softness and elegance.
3 Tails Sauvignon Blanc
Crisp gooseberry and passionfruit flavours coating the tongue.
Emeri Pink Sparkling Moscato
Fresh fruit aromas with strawberry and musk, velvety and full with a persistent bead and fresh finish.
Emeri Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot
Clean apple and floral notes are combined with fresh cream and bread dough aromas. The fine bubbles provide a creamy texture, while the delicate acidity balances the fresh fruit.
De BORTOLI Woodfired Heathcote Shiraz
Sourced from vineyards at Colbinabbin, Corop and Chinamans Bridge in Nothern Heathcote, the wine is dense and complex with ripe dark fruits and plush tannin..
De BORTOLI Villages Chardonnay
Made from premium mature vineyards at Dixons Creek, Tarrawarra and Woori Yallock. Each vineyard is hand picked, cask fermented with ambient yeast and kept as vineyard batches until final blending.
Fine, subtle fruit, nutty, minerally, floral notes, textural
2013 Domaine Bertrand Bergé ‘Méconnu’ Blanc
100% Muscat Petits Grains
Chateau tasting: Light yellow colour with glints of green reflections. The nose is intense and complex, delicate, elegant with notes of lime and exotic fruits.
2011 Château Penin ‘Tradition’
90% Merlot 5% Cabernet Sauvignon 5% Cabernet Franc
Chateau Tasting: Full bodied, round and fleshy, harmonious, typical of its gravelly terroir which makes it different from the other Bordeaux Supérieur wines.
2013 Trapeze Pinot Noir
Pretty brambly red colour. Nose of rose petal, cherries, cola and sweet spices. Palate is fresh, sweet red fruit is perfectly balanced by underlying acidity. Soft tannins, good aromatic complexity, sweet spices, fine oak and a long savoury finish.
2012 Friends of Punch Denton Vineyards Syrah
Syrah, Winery Block, PT 23 clone
There’s depth of flavour too, an inward intensity of dark berry fruit, but the distinction to taste is dried herbs, menthol, curry powder like spice, charry characters and squishy fruit texture met by chewy tannins and saline finish. This is really, really delicious, and the personality asks you to repeat offend. Highly recommended.
2013 La Manufacture Chablis
Bright pale colour with some greenish hints. Typical nose of lemon with a slight mineral touch. Vigorous and tensed mouth with a deep intensity and clear aromas. A typical Chablis to be drunk on its freshness.
2012 Punch Lance’s Vineyard Chardonnay
Given its alcohol, the intensity and depth of the white flesh stone fruits come as a surprise, albeit a very pleasant one, balanced acidity and creamy cashew notes give complexity and balance.
2010 Victory Point Cabernet Sauvignon
96% Cabernet Sauvignon 2% Petit Verdot 2% Cabernet Franc
Has retained a youthful line, and a youthful grip to the medium to full bodied palate, resulting in an exceptionally long finish, the flavours are all in a sombre/black spectrum, but the tannins are fine and ripe, the oak totally integrated. High quality from start to finish.
2012 Villa Symposia “Equilibre”
70% Syrah 25% Carignan 5% Grenache and Mourvedre
Medium bodied, juicy blackcurrant and blueberry fruit, some liquorice and dried herb mouth perfume a succulence of fruit pared back by this stony ash and mineral flavour and dense tannin that the better wines from the region often show. Slaty tannin and red and black fruits on a pretty long finish. Gee, this is really very good.
2010 Les Lions de Suduiraut (2nd wine of Ch. Suduiraut)
96% Semillon 4% Sauvignon Blanc
Brand new, fruity, light offering from the revered Château Suduiraut, this works well with soft blue cheeses and smooth pâtés, or as a cool apéritif. Peaches, honey and lemon drops, with a fresh finish.
NV Domaine Jean Perrier & Fils, Crémant de Savoie , France
Silky mousse and fine bubbles carry notes of white flowers and stone fruits on the nose. Palate is creamy, backed by lively acidity, flavours of peach, orange blossom and citrus. The finish lingers on, a most pleasurable sparkling.
